QUESTIONS?
hello@relatementalhealth.com
I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don't accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means they'll reimburse you for a portion of the session cost, after you meet any deductible.
To make this easier for my clients, I've partnered with Mentaya to handle the out-of-network billing automatically. Using Mentaya, you may be able to pay only a copay for our sessions (post-deductible), rather than paying my full fee up front and waiting for reimbursements. During our intake process, I can help check your out-of-network benefits and how much your copay would be.
You should also be aware that submitting claims for insurance reimbursement requires a mental health diagnosis, which becomes part of your medical record. Insurance companies who provide reimbursement also maintain the right to view records, including session notes, at any time. This is not a concern for many, but I believe it's important for you to make an informed decision about using insurance benefits.
I'm currently offering telehealth sessions only, to clients in Massachusetts and Maine. Research has demonstrated that mental health care delivered remotely can be just as effective as meeting in person. Clients are often happy to skip driving and parking, and meet from the comfort and convenience of home, via a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. All you'll need is a stable internet connection, a computer or phone that can handle video calls, and a quiet space where we can speak privately.
Weekly sessions are ideal for ongoing treatment, especially if you're experiencing distress that's affecting parts of your life. Weekly sessions can help maintain progress, and are especially useful at the start of therapy, as I'm getting to know you, your goals, and how I can best support you.
For couples therapy, I typically conduct a 4-session assessment phase, consisting of an initial intake with both partners, followed by an individual session with each partner, and then another session with both partners, before we move into ongoing treatment.
Transitioning to biweekly sessions (every other week) can be appropriate for clients who are seeing improvement after an initial period of therapy. Biweekly sessions can also make sense for individuals or couples with challenging schedules. Meeting monthly or less frequently is not recommended, as it can be more difficult to follow up on goals and change treatment as needed.
However, for those who just want some temporary or time-limited support, rather than ongoing therapy, there is another option: single-session therapy.
You're NOT in crisis, but could use a little extra support right now? Maybe you're going through a rough patch, or looking for insight on a specific issue. Or maybe you’re not sure if ongoing therapy fits into your life or your budget. An Open Door session -- a single, one-time, 90-minute session -- might be a good option. Together we'll discuss and process whatever's on your mind, to help restore calm and clarity. Research indicates that even a single therapy session can leave you feeling better. So let's talk. Use the Client Portal link to check availability, and choose the "Open Door" option to schedule. Same-day appointments are first-come/first-served. Choosing this option does not preclude you from becoming a client for ongoing therapy, if you choose.
The effectiveness of therapy often depends on a good match between client and therapist. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can determine if we might be a good fit for one another. Feel free to reach out to schedule a time for us to meet to discuss what's bringing you to therapy, and how I can support you. Use the "Schedule a Consultation" button above, or email info@relatementalhealth.com.
